Nutrition supplements help maintain your body’s health and protect your body from disease. But to find out what nutritional supplements we need to take, we must have knowledge of nutrition and how it works.
Understanding nutrition is very important for your health, because if your body does not get enough nutrients, it becomes weak and more discarded to get a disease. We need to understand it so we can take care of our body to help him function properly.
Nutrition is a nutritional study and how to interact with the human body. This is a study of how the body uses food as energy for growth and activities. This leads to understanding how nutritional supplements benefit the body.
Macronutrients and micronutrients are two types of nutrients. Macronutrients, also called “big” nutrition, consisting of protein, carbohydrates and fat. Micronutrients, also called “small” nutrition,
is vitamins and minerals. These two types of nutrients are our bodies must be healthy.
Knowing both will give us a good understanding of what nutritional supplements we need to help our body function properly.
Macronutrients – Proteins.
One of the main structural parts of the body is protein. Organs and muscles consist of protein. Likewise blood, cell membranes and immune systems. The elements in protein are called “amino acids”, which are found especially in meat, dairy products, eggs, soybeans, fish and poultry.
Macronutrients – Carbohydrates.
The main energy source for each cell in the body and fuel for the body is carbohydrates. Carbohydrates consist of carbon, hydrogen and oxygen. Carbohydrates are sugar, starch and fiber found in fruits, vegetables, seeds, milk, syrup, honey and table sugar.
Macronutrients – Fat
Fat is needed for our body to be in good health, but as mentioned in the public eye, too much is not good for us. Fat provides linoleic acid to our body. Linoleic acid is the fatty acid needed for our body growth, metabolism and healthy skin.
Fat, too, helps absorb fat-soluble vitamins.
Various types of fat are saturated fats, unsaturated fats, trans fats. Also called hydrogenated fat, and omega-3 fatty acids.
Saturated fats are mostly found in animal products such as meat, milk and eggs. Also, some are found in several vegetable sources such as coconut oil.
Unsaturated fats are usually liquid at room temperature. They are found in most products and vegetable oils. Unsaturated fats are found especially in fish, nuts, grains and oil from plants.
Trans fat is a chemically processed fat that changes liquid oil into solid fat. This is formed during the hydrogenation process.
Omega-3 fatty acids are called essential fatty acids and are important for our health but cannot be produced by our body. For this reason, omega-3 fatty acids must be obtained from food. Omega-3 fatty acids are found in certain fish and oil oils.
Micronutrients – Vitamins
Vitamins are organic molecules that are vital in every living organism. Vitamins are classified as dissolved in water and fat soluble. Water-soluble vitamins are vitamins that are easily dissolved in water while fat-soluble vitamins are vitamins absorbed through the intestinal tract with lipid assistance. Vitamins are important for growth and normal development and in various chemical reactions in the body. There are various types of vitamins. Each has its own functions in our body which is why vitamins are very important in body nutrition.
Micronutrients – Minerals.
Minerals are inorganic elements, “non-life” elements, which are relevant nutrients for humans, animals and plants. The human body contains many minerals. They are the main structural part of the body. Just like vitamins, minerals have significant functions in the human body.
I want to mention too much or too little of this nutrient
